I am not living in Poland since only 3 years but because so much happend in this time it seems like it’s been ages! Everytime I come back I feel actually more like a tourist than a local person! Anyone has the same?! 😉 First time when we went to Gdansk I felt obligated to guide my boyfriend around but this time as it was the finish of our big travel we decided to just have some relax time without any bigger schedules.
We’ve stayed in Hilton Gdansk (yay so exciting!!!) and we just had the perfect location – in the heart lf the old town. I could see Motlawa River from my balcony and watch how Gdansk wakes up to live while having my coffee. Lucky us, we came to Poland at the best possible time – 25 C and unexpected early summer! Our hotel’s rooftop was just perfect to catch the sun after givin a dip to a swimming pool or enjoy afternoon cocktails with a beautiful panorame of the city. We had lots of fun strolling between colorful streets, exploring small shops with amber (extremely popular in my hometown!), trying local cafés and photographing beautiful architecture. We’ve also met up with my family for some very needed family time :).
I am so glad that we’ve chosen to stay in Hilton! They were honestly treating us as a queen and a king (which means – as it should be😁)! We had a proper royal breakfast served to our room and I won’t believe anyone who will say that they don’t enjoy sitting in their bathrobe with a glass of bubbly in their hand! They truly took care about everything we needed and helped us out even in the middle of the night when we arrive – not many hotels would do that ;). My boyfriend was also very keen to try some polish food. I won’t lie I definitely shouldn’t participate in next edition of MasterChef (or any other) 🤦🏼♀️ so we’ve decided to try hotel’s restaurant – Mercato, apparently very famous place cause of it’s extraordinary dishes. I am always the hardest customer because of the amount of things I don’t eat but we had the best waiter ever and together with the chef she changed the menu so I could enjoy it in vegetarian style! We had a set menu – 5 different dishes accompanied with drinks chosen particulary for a certain dish. The presence of the dish and it’s taste was just incredible! I suddenly became a big fan of polish cuisine not mentioning my boyfriend who as a meat lover – was simply in heaven. For sure I would recommend this place for a business meeting or date – it’s elegant and classy.
I am seeing that Gdansk is getting more and more popular as a getaway destination on the map of Europe and it makes me so happy! It’s a city with very rich history, plenty of interesting places to explore and amazing people (like me😄!). And if you want to get to know to polish hospitality – stay in Hilton and I am sure they won’t fail 🙂
